Welcome to the Museum and Archives program of the Guthrie Scottish Rite. It is an
ongoing endeavor to save, identify, and exhibit artifacts pertaining to the Bodies within the Family of Freemasonry.
The museum’s mission is to present the material and cultural heritage of the Masonic fraternity.
Items from degree presentations; the material, ceramic, glass, and metals culture of the
Guthrie Scottish Rite itself, along with the Scottish Rite in America and the world, are on display. Dinnerware from
Scottish Rite Valleys across the United States is exhibited, and there are displays pertaining to Craft Masonry, the York
Rite, and Shrine. The Museum also features a nice collection of ribbon/badges from other fraternal societies popular
at the end of the Victorian Era.
The museum tells the story of the Adoptive Rites in Oklahoma, and presently includes items
from the Eastern Star, Amaranth, White Shrine, Beauceants, and Daughters of the Nile.
Finally, the youth Orders sponsored by Freemasonry have their own rooms where archival
materials pertaining to DeMolay, Rainbow and Jobs Daughters are presented.
All exhibits of the Museum are displayed within beautiful oak cabinets, and are fully
lighted behind locked, sliding glass panels, or freestanding cases. The exhibits are illuminated by motion detectors
to maximize the effectiveness of each display and minimize unnecessary lighting in the exhibit area.
The Museum of the Guthrie Scottish Rite is an educational and informational resource.
It is ever changing and evolving. It demonstrates the fascinating and interesting ways in which the Masonic
Family has represented its culture and promoted its identity through the years.
The Guthrie Scottish Rite encourages individuals from around the world who have family
heirlooms and archival materials pertaining to Freemasonry which they would like preserved for future generations to enjoy
to contact the Guthrie Scottish Rite Masonic Center at
gsrite@sbcglobal.net.
We will be happy to discuss how we archive, manage, display, protect, and acknowledge all donated items.
